Approaching good teaching methods to become a successful English teacher in 2024

 

When I was a student myself, I could never think of becoming a teacher, especially an English teacher. I hated  preparing lesson plans before going to class. I hated managing dozens of students while I was teaching. I hated scoring  a lots of tests. I hated methods every teachers used to apply in the classroom. However, here I am, an English teacher that having a lots of success and failure stories in my more than 5 years of teaching English. I know that all English teachers are doing a noble mission that is teaching laguage to provide new opportunities and open doors to the students. Therefore, in 2024,I have planned effective teaching methods to become  a successful teacher and make my students enjoy all my lessons. Here are some skills that I will try to apply to keep on improving my teaching method.

Firstly, I will always plan my lesson well and carefully. Be organised but flexible. Be disciplined with young learners.Whatever method I use for lesson planning , I need to have a clear learning objective . My lessons will be very engaging to the students and the lesson will run smoothly.

Secondly, I will create a positive classroom atmosphere to to establish great learning environment for the students. I try to promote comunicating with my students.  Let my students be creative as their brain naturally seeks creativity. Help my students develop and use critical thinking. Try to understand their needs, strengths and weaknesses so I can adapt your classes to give my students what they really want.

Thirdly, let my students speak. Language is interpersonal and most students want to learn English to communicate. To learn a language students need practice. Students need lots of opportunities for real communication in English, with each other and with teacher. Hence, I will plan classes with plenty of student involvement and communication by much more activites in the classroom.

The fourth skill I will apply in my lessons is motivating and challenging my students. Try to make the class creative, memorable and fun, but always with a clear learning purpose. Encourage students to work independently of the teacher. Let them have a voice in the classroom and let them share their ideas of learning with teacher.

The fifth skill is using technology. Many younger learners today like using technology in the classroom. Take advantage of the Internet to bring lots of natural English to the classroom and to add variety to my lessons, I can use videos, games or songs to make the lesson more atractive.

The next skill I will build good relations with students. Showing care and interest in  students’ lives is a great tool to promote a teaching power. I will set a positive teacher-student relation to establish beneficial learning climate where the student is willing to perform, is not being shy and receives the support.

The last but not least skill that I aim for is to constantly develop myself, make a better vesion of myself everyday. I will join in every professional activities to learn and approach new teaching methods that making my lessons more effective. Besides, I will read books, articles, websites about successful teaching method  share ideas with other teachers. Try to ask my other colleagues for feedback on my lessons. Experiment with new ideas and approaches and keep an open but critical mind about what works and what doesn’t. 

The above are the skills that I have outlined to apply in my lectures as well as in any teaching environment. I hope that these skills will help me become a better teacher and give students interesting and engaging lessons. Currently, I feel that being a teacher is a very meaningful profession and I am always proud of my profession.
